Mum the apprentice.

Howdy Mates.  Mum's been trying her hand at being a builder's labourer and a painter in the last week and we're not surprised to say she says she's not cut out for either.  It started when we got some new doors and they had to be stained.  We gotta admit, mostly dad  mum did a good job.  The doors look good and we can see through them now.  We can't wait to see what kind of slobber and nose art we can achieve on them.

Our new front door.  Lets in heaps of lovely light.

 Our new passage door.
Hey, I can see ya, but I can't get to ya???

Now, how does this thing open?

That better not be the sound of a treat bag being opened.

Then to finish off her apprenticeship, she helped out at our sissy's new home cause they are building a retaining wall.  Well, with arms that have the strength of two pieces of long cooked spaghetti, mum didn't last too long.  Just long enough that she couldn't raise her arms above her head the next day ahahahahaha.
Meanwhile back at the ranch, er house, Rory slept like a log near the back door.  On guard, and ever alert.

Have a great week mates.

The Easter Bunny is tricky.

Trying to trick us by covering himself in grass???

Mum took this photo butt, we still do not know

We did find eggs and chocolate though.
What do you reckon mates??

 Keep your eyes peeled everybuddy.
He's heading your way!

Happy Easter to you all.  We love ya mates.

Koala Visit

Howdy Everybuddy.  Last night we had a visit from a koala.  So what you say.  You live in Oz and must see them all the time, right?  Wrong.  We live in a rural area and only see them occasionally and usually in trees.  Koala's only eat particular types of eucalyptus leaves.  We have never had one in our yard before.

Mum was pegging out some washing after dark and heard a scratching noise and thought it was I, Stella, walking towards her and when she looked towards our back door, there was the koala.  She doesn't know why he/she was there but he walked towards her.  She was a little worried cause they can be territorial and may look cute but can leave a nasty scratch.  Their nails are extremely hard and long, perfect for climbing up the bark of trees.

She was worried somebuddy would open the back door and let Rory and I out and then there would have been trouble so she carefully walked around him and knocked on the kitchen window and told the others what was happening.  They all came out and the koala walked towards them and then sat and looked at them.  Mum offered him a drink.  We wonder what he wanted as it had not been hot (sometimes when it's extremely hot over a long period they will come looking for water but they usually get all their fluid from eucalyptus leaves).

Anyhoo, by this time we saw him through the door and barked like the nutcases we are.  He trotted down the back, climbed the apricot tree and then climbed into our bay leaf tree and we left him in peace.

He was gone this morning and we hope he found his way home.  Mum estimates he was around 15 kgs (33 lbs) and he looked young.

Good luck little koala.  The family loved seeing you.

Spider Web (and a poem for Bertie!)

Howdy Mates, we found this spider web this morning.
Isn't it beautiful.  Have a great weekend all.

The Spider Web
By:  Mary Ann Hoberman

The spider spun a silver web
Above the gate last night
It was round with little spokes
And such a pretty sight
This morning there were drops of dew
Hung on it, one by one;
They changed to diamonds, rubies red.
When they were lit with sun.
A spiders nice to have around
To weave a web so fine
On which to string the drops of dew
That catch the bright sunshine.

WTH can we call this post?

Howdy Everybuddy.  Don't worry it's fine.  We survived not having breakfast the other day.  Our mum's a pushover good mum and gave in to our constant demands sweet natures by letting us have some yoghart containers to lick out and some treats.

Now believe it or not, she's getting bossy again!  It started a few days ago.  We've actually had rain mates, and it's been cooler.  We like the rain but we don't like getting our feet wet and that is the problem.  I, Stella, have always liked to help mum out by pooing on the pavers next to the backdoor when it's wet.  I figure it helps that she doesn't have to walk far to collect it and I get to have dry feet.
 View from our back door.
The big bay leaf tree has been cut away
over the years and does give shelter from the rain.

Yes mum, I know I should come around this
corner and go on the grass.

Rory, being Mr Modesty, has gone behind the bay leaf tree all his life as he doesn't like to be watched while "doing his business".  Butt, after his embolism, while mum had to help hold up his 89 kg (195 lb) bum, she was happy when he pooed just off the back path, in front of the bay leaf tree, just as long as he did it there and not inside!!

So after he recovered and could walk again, he sometimes still did his business in front of the tree.  Mum thought, oh well, as least he can walk and get it done on his own.  Now though, since we've had wet weather, he is frightened of slipping on the ground and for a couple of days has pooed on the pavers too.  Mum was not impressed.

   Rory's spot, now getting slippery.

She says, it's back to the drawing board and we're going to get taken "down the back", wet or not, to do our business.  Sigh.  It's not fair.  Ok for her.  She gets a little room, inside the house and doesn't have to get her backside anywhere near wet cold grass.

So mates, it's Autumn here, cooler, wetter and bringing with it a whole new set of challenges hehe.

Here's us when mum was laying down the new rules.

Stellie, I'm just gonna make my legs look even wonkier so mum will feel sorry for me, hehehe.

Rory mate, it takes a lot to fool mum.

  See ya soon everybuddy.
No worries, and love, Stella and Rory

P.S.  Our cousin Tyler came through his tooth extraction
just fine.  He was quiet for a day and is now back to his cracker self.  Thanks for your good wishes for him.

Double Dinner and NO BREAKFAST!

Howdy Everybuddy.  Has anybuddy got RSPCA on speed dial?????  This morning our mum says she is NOT giving us any breakfast.  Can you believe it???  That's right.  NO BREAKFAST.  No, we're not going to the Vet.  We are both fit and well.  It started last night and is all mum's fault!

Mum was out walking (without us I might add!).  Shocking I know, but now Rory can't go on big walks she leaves us BOTH home unless she can sneak me out without Rory knowing.  Well, she comes home to dinner being all prepared and in the oven.  Yes, our sissy and brother had organised dinner.  My brother had fed us our dinner early.  Mum comes in, doesn't ask anybuddy if we had been fed, and feeds us again!  Now I ask ya mates.  Who wouldn't scoff down a second meal if it's offered.  I did my usual dance of delight when mum got the bowls out (even though my belly was feeling wobbly) and we chowed down like the troopers we are.

A few minutes later James says he's fed us already and bam, we're called greedy pigs and mum starts stressing about bloat!  Bloat, smoat, we knew to lay on our pillows and let that glorious double feed digest.  Aaaahhh, best feeling EVER.

So this morning she says, NO BREAKFAST!  I said to Rory, there's got to be something to eat in this place and after a quick search, voila, there it was.  Penny's litter tray.  Not cleaned out at this early hour and ripe for the taking.

This is me after mum found me with the evidence of my smelly breakfast fare.

What do ya mean my breath stinks!

 No mum, I didn't eat Penny's poo.

Breakfast.

No Breakfast.

Stella (who is fading fast)
and Rory (who is feeling too weak to wag his tail)

Wordless Wednesday - Flashback - Tyler Babysits

Have a great Wednesday mates.
No worries, and slobber, Rory and Stella

P.S.  Tyler's mum (our sissy) took Tyler to the vet yesterday.  Yes, she thought.  A normal vet visit.  Just for vaccinations.  No worries.   Err, not so.  Tyler has a broken back molar.  In for removal next Monday under anaesthetic.  Sheesh.
Lisa wonders if she should take out shares in the Vet practice hehehe.
