STORY TIME and Remembering Oscar

Once upon a time I found a flip flop.  It needed redesigning.  Here Dad, I think this is yours.

Once upon a time there was a sheep.  He needed redesigning.

Once upon a time I found a gardening glove, and of course it needed redesigning.

Once upon a time, I was in the dog house.
No thanks mum, I don't need a tissue.
And we all lived happily ever after.

It is two years ago today, 19 September, that we lost our beautiful boy Oscar.  He was with us for six fun filled years and we treasure his memories every day.

As always, he thought he was a lap dog.  After 15 minutes of sitting on James' lap, James turned to me and said "Mum my legs really really hurt".  He didn't want to tell Oscar he had to get off.

He was an Adelaide Crows fan through and through.

He made a great footrest.
 He gave us love.

 Not much to see here.

 We are family.

 Loved his sister Kara.

Loved by his Mum always, you too little girl.  We miss you both. Always loved, always will be.

Oscar's passing began a two year period of great loss for our family.  Two months after Oscar left for the Rainbow bridge, my dear sweet Mother passed away.  In the next 18 months we also lost our sweet sensitive boy Brucey and our dear old girl Kara.  I will post for Brucey very soon as his anniversay is coming towards us in November.

Recently as you all know we have welcomed Stella and now Rory into our family.  Once again the cycle begins.  A four legged friend to tell your worries to, share the ups and downs, share the fabulous moments only they can bring into our lives.  So to everyone in blogland, give your pets a hug and tell them its from Carol.  As always, I wish you 'No worries' and love, Carol

  2. I can certainly understand your sense of loss during that difficult time of losing your loved ones...I lost my Mother, step-father and 10 year old yellow Lab all within 9 months in 2001...
My job as a teacher, my husband and my remaining pets kept me afloat.
    I enjoy your blog!
Hugs to you as you remember your sweet Oscar,

  3. Oh what a stellar Tribute to those who have gone on.. Getting two new fur furends is a wonderful way to show it.
When we loose a furend or family member they can not be replaced, butt the wonderful memories they leave with us, are what allow us OPEN OUR HEARTS once again. Your Once Upon a Times are a perfect example.

  5. We are still in the early stages of grieving for the loss of our Thor, and still remember with great love the earlier mastiffs. Oscar was a very handsome fella, and lucky to have a family like yours. Give Rory and Stella hugs from Thor's forlorn family.

No worries and hugs back to you!

  6. I love the new header picture. They all pose so well!
Such a good post today. Cute and heart warming, and sad at the same time. Oscar seemed like such a cuddle bug (Darwin would never let us use her as a foot rest. hehe).
And poor Bruce. Such a short life!
But Rory and Stella are great new lives that will fill your hearts!

  7. Wow! Great to meet Oscar. He seems like he was a grand guy. It is so sad that the super sized doggies are not around for too long, but they fill each and every day with relentlessly huge love for sure.

That was one BIG doggie!! Mum says we doggies give more to humans than we get from the humans......... I'm still working that one out!

  11. It's wonderful to see so many photos of Oscar! What a handsome merle Dane. We know your family are glad of heart to have you and Rory now, not to replace Oscar & Brucey & Kara, but to renew & continue the love your family shared with them. Every doggie [and kitteh] they have loved has made their hearts bigger.

  14. Hey there Carol...
What a beautiful tribute to Oscar. Yes, owning a pet guarantees heartbreak. BUT it also guarantees that, as a person, you will grow in ways you never imagined. Our dogs teach us so much, and give us so much. At then end of their time with us, we can simply say...thank you!
Sending lotsaluv to you and wishing you many happy years with Stella and Rory.
