The Truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

Howdy Mates, here's a little story for you all.  Well actually it's a bit long so you might want to get a cuppa or a cold drink.  I know you all think I am adorable, cute and butter wouldn't melt in my mouth.  Yes, I know, it can be a curse to be so cute.  But this is where the truth comes out.  I am confessing to an addiction.  Yes I have kept this under control with constant vigilence on mum and dad's behalf and amazing self control on mine.

The story starts on Monday arvo.  Dad is on sick leave cause he had a knee operation.  He's fine and only limps a little but that should soon be gone and his old knee will be back to, well, being an old knee, but without the limp hehe.

Anyhoo we decide to go for our usual walk along the Summer Track, which in winter can be a little muddy, darn cold but fun all the same.  Now, if you want to know who is the goodie two shoes in the family, look no further than Rory.  Oh yes, never leaves Mum's side while walking, unless he's alongside Dad.  Sheesh, that boy can be trying.  It's hard to talk him into any mischief.

Well my plan was prepared well in advance.  I had been thinking and thinking about what I could do to take mum's mind off things and cheer her up.  Then it came to me.  Aha.  Yes.  That's it.  Let the photo show begin and I will explain it all.

Here we are, beginning of the walk, me of course on lead and Goodie Two Shoes, off lead.

Practicing my sit and stay.

With mum, she didn't have a clue, hehe.

Come on Goodie, you don't have to wait for mum all the time.

My goat impersonation.

Please Dad, may I go off lead too?
I promise to be good!

Dad's goat impersonation hehe.

Yes mum, I'm coming.  Nothing to worry about here.

Hey Rory, keep them occupied for a minute will ya.

Hey mum, what's that over in the paddock?

 S  T  E  L  L  A ! ! ! !
get back here you little ratbag!

Well, sorry folks but there is no photos of the next bit.  I had a good old run with the sheep.  Yes, I am a sheep addict.   I knew it would take mum's mind off things and I was right.  She ran along, calling my name and looking very animated.  I knew it was definitely the right thing to do.  Anyhoo, I didn't want to cause too much trouble and in less than 45 seconds I was back.  The sheep had good fun too, baaing, running and baaing some more.   Only thing was, out came the lead again.  Rats.  Oh well, it was worth it mates.

Yeah, I know, I shouldn't do it, but it was for a worthy cause.
I'd do anything for my mum, even be naughty.
If I'm on lead, I don't even look at the bloomin sheep, but let me off and yippee, here I come.

 Here's the fallen down tree.
Its really huge and has a hole through it.  Cool.

Well, that's it mates.  I can't help myself, if there are sheep around, well, I just like to have a run with them.  Maybe I'm part sheepdog?

Here's a last photo of mum and Rory.
He's back on lead too now.  Nearly home and a bit more traffic around.

Hope your week has been fine so far.
Stella, Sheep Addict, signing off.
No worries, and love, Stella and Rory

  5. Confession is good for the soul. But I agree we need to do whatever we can to make our peeps smile, even if it means chasing sheep. Good job Stella. I am going to use your wise logic next time I see a skunk.

  10. Ummm, Stella, we don't think that sort of addiction is going to get you in good graces with Mum. We never get the chance to be off lead because, sheep or no sheep, we would be off on a very long run. Glad to hear you were a good girl and came running back so quickly.

We think you might be on to something there, must be some sheepdog in there somewhere:)

    Must have been fun.
    I wondered why Stella's brother was a Dane. I think I understand now :-)

  18. OOOOoooooo Stella, that's very naughty....Bella is always running off, but she only chases cats. People take a dim view of chasing sheep. We don't know why.

    Great place to run, though.

  19. Nice work, Stella! They say exercise helps improve one's mood - so by making your mom run after you, I am sure you lifted her spirits!

  26. Hi Rory and Stella, there are TWO Shelties in this family. They're Shetland Sheep Dogs. My peeps put them both in a big enclosed pen with a herder and 8 little sheep to see if their herding instincts would kick in. Nope. They just stood there looking at my dad. Finally my dad was asked to come into the pen and run around. Yup, the shelties chased my dad and ignored the sheep. $50 to try and not one sheep got herded. It'll be okay Carol, takes an awful amount of time to feel okay with things.

  27. Stella you are so thoughtful to think of giving mom a break from heavy thinking and to exercise those sheep which probably needed a little activity to stay in good health!

  28. ARGHH! Stellie, this is your lawyer speaking. DO NOT chase other people's sheep! Did you know that in all countries with a British-based system of law, farmers are allowed to shoot 'sheep worriers' on sight?! No wonder your mum was screaming; you scared her half to death. Sorry to be a buzz-kill, but you should listen to Rory AND YOUR LAWYER and cut it out!

  29. Greetings it is Me Jasper. I am an Italian sheepdog, commenly called a maremma and I love to chase sheep. My mummy says I am naughty and should be protecting the sheep, not chasing them. Once the sheep chased Me. Mummy said it looked like something out of the keystone cops. I am not too sure what they are, but maybe they are cute and and adorable, like Me and my friend Nellie.

  30. OH DEAR STELLA!

  33. Hi gang - just wanted to comment on your comment. I wish we had a teacher that was nice and funny....ours is SKEERY and RUDE and like Col. Klink!!! It was my first time in Grade four last Sunday..... and before the class barely starts she started getting in my mums face and yelling at her..... it was CRAZY! The teachers are VERY into "trialling" so they are soooooooo strict with us and our handlers.Well - mum doesn't like to spoken to like she is piece of dirt - so we are just gonna go with the flow and mum will see if the teacher was just "showing who is boss" for the newbie....or if she is just Col Klink and will need a dressing down. Mum is just the right one for that job. She was so stunned with the first attack that she was speechless....but got really angry afterwards!! I had to be a good girl and lay low. Everyone up to this teacher has said how intelligent I am and that I would be perfect for trialling..... but mum is not keen for that, but she would like to finish Grade 4 with me. Only if Gestapo Pants takes a chill pill though!! We'll let you know what happens. xxx Rubie
