We had an interesting day yesterday at dog school. We were running a little late cause there had been a serious vehicle accident not far from our house and we had to detour the long way around to get to the city.
When we get to school, mum and dad always walk us around an off leash park next to the oval we train on. That's ok. We stay on leash and mind our own business, have a wee and then go to the oval to train.
After mum sees us wee she needs to go too, but we have trained her well and she uses the public toilets hehe! She walks about 20 metres from us and dad is holding Rory and I together.
Out of NOWHERE comes a lab, off lead, barking at us and running around us in circles. Well I'm sorry to say we went OFF our nuts. We yelled HBO words at him and dad had to use all his strength to hold us both. Mum comes back straight away and yells to the dog to get away. Meanwhile the owner is calling her dog to no avail and making no attempt to catch her dog.
Mum grabs him by the collar and drags him away and pushes him towards the owner and then he runs to her and they leave. Phew. Mum has steam coming out of her ears and you should have heard her HBO words. Would have made a wharfie blush mates.
Here is what she looked like:
Anyhoo, we went to class and it was Rory's first time in Grade 6 and let me tell ya mates, he was fabo. Whether it was the excitement beforehand or not we don't know but he was really good and mum was so proud of him. I, of course, was fabo too hehe.
During the lesson we could see the off leash area and this stoopid lady and her poor dog were still causing mayhem. We only hope she joins our school and learns to control her dog. We gotta admit we aren't perfect BUTT our mum keeps us on lead in popular areas and we do behave ourselves. We love the other dogs at school and don't have any problems with them.
Well that's our story. Mum has calmed down. Sorta. She had a good old whinge to all the kids at home and that made her feel better.
Now she looks like this, but without the sunnies!!
See ya soon everybuddy and hope your weekend was a great one.
No worries, and love, Stella and Rory
P.S. Maybe mum could have handled this better but it all happened real quick. Mum wasn't mean to the other dog, just firm. She also sent a few HBO words in our direction too, gulp!
WELL DONE MOM!! Our mom would've done the exact same thing!!
ReplyDeleteNice one Rory...proud of you buddy!
Wally & Sammy
Good reaction - I would have done the same. My dogs don't like to meet other dogs while beeing on the leash!
ReplyDeleteWould you have acted differently without a leash?
Greetings from Germany,
Isabella
Your Mom is VERY brave to approach that crazy dog. We're glad she didn't get bitten. We don't understand why some owners let their pup's run all around like that and cause mayhem. You two were so good not to attack that dog. Best to let your Mom handle it like she did.
ReplyDeleteWe LOVE that picture of you today.
Hugs,
Lily Belle & Muffin
Maybe after Rory saw the grrrrr face your mom had he thought, "Hummm I think I will be the perfect dog for class. Don't want to see that face any more." Or the more likely answer is that Rory is the perfect dog.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Goose
OMD there is nothing worse and we can believe it happened real quick. No worries my mum would be yelling HBO words too. We know mum wasn't mean just firm. I think my peeps would have steam coming out of her ears too.Have marvellous Monday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
Well done Rory! Glad you showed your peeps what a well-behaved dog you can be. Sad that too many peeps don't know how to control their dogs better - it would help keep everyone smiling if they did :-) Take care - woofs and licks from Magic xx
ReplyDeleteHey cuties we are back to blogging, it feels like forever since we have stopped by - prolly cause it has! We are back though. Im sorry your mommy had to go through that scary situation. I would have been just as mad as she was - I think in the short time she had to make a decision she did the right thing! I LOVE that pic of both of yall - you two are growing too fast!
ReplyDeleteHari Om
ReplyDeleteGoodness, these are always scary moments. Just so good that nobody got hurt. Well done for class behaviour guys!!
(Now I gotta admit, I have not no idea what HBO means, but I'm guessing they would be censored on Home Box Office!) Hope you have an event-free week... Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xx
Sometimes you just have to put you paw down and not take any guff from the untrained. We say bravo Mom!!!
ReplyDeleteGive your Mom some extra treats and cuddles today. She deserves them!
ReplyDeleteNo worries, we didn't hear those HBO words, so to us they never happened! BOL! Our Momma would have done the same thing too.
ReplyDeleteOMD your mum did GRRREAT in pawtecing you.. BUTT we are wondering if she went wee in her Knickers?? Hope not beclaws THAT would have put a DAMPer on Rory's furs day in grade 6. Just sayin.
ReplyDeleteNo Worries...
Gosh do we EVER love saying that... NO WORRIES..
Stupid woman, could have been very nasty.
ReplyDeleteWe don't know what HBO words are but can guess!
Mum was a heroine, well done Mum!!
I bet your moms adrenaline meter was off the charts...our moms would have been ...give her lots of kisses...good job Rory...by the way Angus has his boat ticket to come see you, he is waiting on his new outfits he ordered before he can leave, mom said he can't go...we will see who wins.

It seems there's always one of those dogs in every crowd....or maybe I should say one of those owners. Glad it turned out OK.
ReplyDeleteGlad your mum has a smiley face now. You two are so well behaved :)

I say three cheers for Mum and just maybe the unleashed dog's Mum will have learned a bit of a lesson from this. or at least some HBO words to use on her runaway pup.
ReplyDeleteCheers to all of the Downunder Dogs from the UpOver family,
Jo, Stella and Zkhat
Some humans!!!! And kudos to you momma
ReplyDeleteBenny & Lily
You did pawfectly! And with such a high energy distraction too! And your mom did just fine too. Peeps need to be responsible!

Sounds like the same Lab Honey the Great Dane just posted about- though I do know you live in different parts of Australia! Glad you are all OK. It would have given you all a big fright. Dogs that aren't under good control by their owners shouldn't be running free!
ReplyDeleteGood for your mom for taking control of the situation! Sometimes HBO words just kinda slip out. oops!
ReplyDeleteLove ya lots♥
Mitch and Molly
We think your Mum did very well to take control. Hopefully, the other owner will train her dog.
ReplyDeleteXXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy
SHE likes that vineyard in the back ground of your header. If it weren't 8 a.m it might remind HER to have some red.
Hehehe, well I agree with everyone here, your Mom handled the situation very well indeed! It's incredibly frustrating when pup parents can't handle or don't care about handling their pups well! Boo to them!! Maybe one day, they will join your school too!
ReplyDeleteSure your mom did it well!
ReplyDeleteI can understand all those HBO words!
Take care
Kisses and hugs

I think HBO words were very justified! :)
ReplyDeleteHey guys - tell your mum that we think she did a GREAT job!
ReplyDeleteTail Wuggles, Rubie xxx
Your mother is extremely brave to approach that crazy dog. We're glad she did not get bitten. we do not perceive why some house ownersChallenge coins
ReplyDeleteThat's the scariest! Honey the Great Dane just had a similar experience!
ReplyDeleteSam
I think Mum's reaction was just perfect! And you guys were good for Dad, too. Sometimes Mums just have to defend their pups. Love the picture of you guys lying down on the dirt road.
ReplyDeleteMy dad thinks that your mom did fine. And with due respect to your dad, my dad thinks your mom is a fine lady. HBO words are okay if used at the proper moment with suitable emphasis (hand signals and stuff). A similar thing happened to me. A small yapping and lunging off leash dog was running around me and the owner was across the street yelling at it to "come". Yah right, as soon as the Lord Almighty gets up. Anyways because I'm in a wheelchair my dad's a bit jumpy and managed to get me out of there ASAP. I didn't bark or anything - I thought the little dog was nuts. The little dog's owner was stoopid and my dad yelled at her to come over and pick up her little dog's poop too.
ReplyDeleteSounds like your Mommy did a great job. HBO words. That's funny
ReplyDeleteYou guys have a great MOM!! She is my kind of woman!!!
ReplyDeleteYou both look so good!!!
So happy you came for a visit to our blog!!! Thanks!!!
Love you guys!!
My Vickie is picturing all of this in her head and even though she thinks the lady with the off lead dog is the one who needs training more than her dog, My Vickie can't help but giggle a bit when she thinks of your moms face. But then you tell us the lady still is causing problems and we want her to Stop being a bad dog person. It is a good thing the off lead dog was not mean or didn't hurt you guys. I bet there would have been more than HBO words coming from your mom then.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you were fabo in school after all that excitement! I'm also glad that nobody got hurt...
ReplyDeleteThat type of behavior annoys me too! I also worry because a couple of the pack aren't overly social and a dog running at them makes them scared and then there is the chance of somebody lashing out. People need to be trained better!
ReplyDeleteSome people just have no dog etiquette! I always worry when a strange dog runs up to the collies!
