Carol's memories..

Hi All, this is a post just for me.  It's one year since my dear dad passed away.  He was 86 years old, healthy and lived life to the full but I wanted more time with him.

It's been a  hard year full of sadness, tears but also happy memories. I miss him so very much.  He was a devoted family man and he made me feel special.  There is no love like the love of a father.

I like to think of dad and mum together now.  Here's a song by Colin Hay.  He wrote it about his own father.  If you have time listen and enjoy.  If your dad is still with you, go and visit and give him a hug from me.  I miss my dad's hugs.  Carol

  1. It has been a very hard year I know. That song is quite beautiful. I think about the time I have with parents now, and want more as time flies by. I hope the memories make you smile and we are thinking of you tonight.

  4. My MOM knows somewhat of how you feel. Her dad died a year ago in June. Every once in a while MOM will think to herself, "Oh I should call my dad and tell him..." then she remembers that he's not here and wishes for time to somehow go back so she can share. Hug to you Carol.

  5. It is always hard to lose a parent, but when you have good memories, it makes it bearable.

  6. I agree with the other comments. You never get over missing your parents, it is a loss like no other. I hope you find comfort in your memories that can never be taken away and in knowing you will see him again one day....

  7. Has it been a year already Carol? It must be nice to look back on all the happy memories you shared together. I always get out the old photos and look through them on my Dad's birthday, it always makes me smile.

Carol, it's wonderful that you took time to remember today and share it with us. Shortly I will be posting similarly for my mother. Dad is still with us, though not in best of health. I will be visiting him before the year is out and will most definitely be ensuring some hugs.

All love to you - give the doggies an extra big cuddle today too! YAMxx

  16. The heart always aches when we lose someone we love. Mom taught us that. All of our grandparents have passed some time ago. We hope your love for your dad helps you during this time!

  18. As hard as the past year was, I hope the wonderful memories of your Dad gave you some comfort.

My Dad had cancer surgery yesterday and it was miserable. I'm going to give him an extra hug tonight - One from me and one from you. I know he will understand.

    Hugs,
    Kim
