A letter to Stella and Rory

Dear Stella.  You came into my life when I needed help.  Help to gain my confidence back at being a good dog mum.  You helped me just by loving me and being such a happy, confident girl.  You welcomed Rory into our home right from the first second you saw him.  You are fun, bubbly, a bit of a rascal, a bossy big sister but always, always wagging.  I love you to bits and pieces.  Thanks Stellie.

Dear Rory.  You came into our home cause Dad wanted another Great Dane.  I wasn't ready.  I couldn't bond with you for the first few weeks and I feel bad about that.  But, when you chose me to be your special person, to love me, slobber on me and always want to be right next to me, well, my heart melted and I fell in love with you.  Maybe you knew we would need each other.  You are wise beyond your years. You are my shadow and I wouldn't have it any other way.

You are like chalk and cheese and I love you both and you make our lives all the more wonderful just by being in it.   No worries, and love, Mum x x

A visit to sissy's house for Rory.

Howdy Mates.  The other day I went walking with mum and dad.  I'm a good girl and walk 5 km off lead and don't run away.  Mum has plenty of treats but to tell the truth I'm unfit and it's been quite hot so I'm happy to plonk along with them.  Don't tell mum though cause she might hold back on the treats hehehe.

Well after we came home, mum felt sorry for Rory and took him to my sissy's place.  That's fine with me.  I was knackered and was glad of a rest.

Over they go and Rory is really excited.  He loves the car drive even though we can walk there in two minutes, he still can't walk that far.  He goes inside, says howdy to Tyler and Jinx who was there visiting too and has a lovely sniff around and was all happy and waggy.  Mum and sissy sit down for a cuppa and all is well.  Rory goes outside and being the sharing boy he is, does a big poo in sissy's garden.  Bet you're glad there's no photos here!!  That's ok.  No worries.  Mum will clean it up when she's finished her drink.

Oh oh.  The neighbour has two little barky dogs and they call out HBO words to Rory.  Well he has to respond right?  Except when he ran over to the fence, he slipped in his own poo!  Ewwwwww.  Mum and sissy look at each other and sigh.  He's such a doofer.  Off comes one boot and thank dawg it was his good foot and the other hasn't got any on it.  I had to laugh when they came home.  Well it was funny.  Anyhoo he had a great time visiting.  Also he goes with Dad when he drives to get petrol for the car.  He just loves his rides.

Here's a Friday funny for ya.  It's got a naughty word in it but mum thought it was hilarious.  She does the same thing!!

Have a grreat weekend mates.
No worries, and love Stella Rory

My foot and photos that are gross, but in a GOOD way.

Howdy Everybuddy

On 16 December 2014 if you remember, I had infected nail beds and had to go to the vet.  Well after the vet visit, that night I again chewed my nails and also chewed a hole in my toe.  Gross I know, but that's what I did.  Anyhoo, we have found since that my left foot is, well, paralysed, and I have no feeling in it at all.  I can still walk on it but I sort of swing my leg forwards in a wonky sort of way.  I had my hole stitched up once the infection had cleared and it has helped even though the stitches have now come out (they were supposed to).

So, believe it or not, tonight when mum was cleaning my wound (and she does this every 24 or 48 hours) she thought some of you, some of you poor, poor fellas, might want to see what it's like.
She's coo coo in the head we keep tellin' ya.

If you don't want to see, scroll down with your eyes shut and for those that want to look, we hope you don't spew afterwards.  Mum says it's not that bad but she is just glad it's not a hole anymore.

Get ready.
Here you go.

I wear the cone of shame every single night now and have a bandage on my bad foot, covered with a boot and also a boot on my right foot even though that is ok.  Mum is taking no chances.

I told mum, promised her in fact, that 2015 is our GOOD year.  No more chewing cause it's a GOOD year.   Yep, my foot will heal and she won't have to bandage anymore.  Just put on the boot and that's all.  So everybuddy, we consider this to be a GOOD post.  Yep, GOOD because my foot is healing beautifully.  My Vet, Ms Anna said so and she is proud of me for being such a GOOD BOY when we go and see her.

So mates, it's all GOOD here.  We hope it's GOOD at your place too.  It might not be perfect but for us GOOD is just fine.

Take care and see ya later alligator.

No worries, and LOVE,
Stella (a GOOD dog) and Rory (a GOOD dog too)

Easy Sunday Morning

Howdy Mates
It's Sunday morning here and all is quiet.
We're dog sitting our cousins.
Jinx who is 14 now, is obsessed with our sissy Penny.
She will stare at her for hours......and hours......and hours.

Rory, on the otherhand, can't be bothered.
He prefers to snooze on his pillow.

Tyler's mum is away working on the Indian Pacific train.
He always plays the clown, hehe.

I, Stella, like the quiet life.  Well not always, but on a Sunday morning, it is a good time for relaxing.

A brother, and two cousins.
Enjoy your weekend mates.
No worries, and love, Stella, Rory, Tyler and Jinx.

Favouritism - Totally Unfair

Mum likes to have a cuppa in the evening.  She bought this new cup and was all ready to watch the Cricket on TV.

She sits herself down, cuppa in hand, all ready for the game.
I thought it would be fun to sit with her too.
What do ya mean you can't see the TV?
Sheesh, some people are hard to please.
You'd think she would enjoy my company.

Then Stellie sits next to mum while she's on the 'puter.  I don't hear any complaints then.  Unfair I say, totally unfair.
I hope there is no favouritism at your place mates.

No worries, and slobbery love, Rory (mum's favourite) and Stellie (her first favourite hehehe).

Rain glorious rain.

Howdy Everybuddy.  We've had rain and lots of it.  Hurray.  They are predicting 60 mls (2.3 in) over the next three days.  Let's hope we don't flood, bwahaha.  Oh, I wished I'd touched wood when I said that!

Here I am in the dog house.  Mum's working today and we have to stay outside. In case you are wondering, at the moment Rory isn't allowed in the dog house, just till his feet improve a bit.

Hey, Rory, can ya smell the rain?
Jeez, the humidity plays havoc with my hair.

 Zzzzzzzzz

Rory also had his feet checked yesterday at the Vets.  Miss Anna said it was looking better.  He has to continue with his antibiotics, bandaging etc but he is slowly improving.

I'm singing in the rain
Just singing in the rain
What a glorious feelin'
I'm happy again

That's all folks!

No worries, and love, Stella and Rory

Bushfire update - all good here.

Howdy Mates.  We are still all ok.  One more day of extreme heat tomorrow with thunder and lightning predicted which is a great concern due to lightning strikes starting more fires or starting up old ones.  Thursday and Friday are possible rain so keep your paws crossed for that.  If you are interested below is a link to footage from the fires.  The town of Gumeracha which is shown in parts of the video is 10 km from us and the fire front moved to within 5 km of our town.  There has been no loss of life and this is absolutely amazing but there has been many tragic stories of animal loss.

Footage of sth australian 2015 bushfires

We have had extra fire fighters from New South Wales and Victoria sent over to help. When mum was at a meeting on Sunday evening and the trucks drove down our main street, everyone cheered and waved to them.  This has brought out the very best in people with everyone rallying around to help, however they can, in whatever way they can.  We are proud and thankful to all involved.

Rory is back to the vet tomorrow to check his foot.  It is slightly better.  His stitches have come out all bar one but it doesn't look so, well, holey in the side of his toe.

We are determined that 2015 is going to be a good year even though it has started out on a wobbly note.  We promise to post GOOD TIMES and FUN TIMES during the year!!
Here is Stellie, snoopervising Penny eating her food.

Me sleeping cause it's what I love to do (apart from eating my feet).

Stellie sleeping cause she's lazy, bwahahahaha.

Well mates, that's it from us.  Tomorrow is mum's day off.   I Rory, am going to sit on mum's feet till she visits a few of our furriends in Blogville.

Take care mates.

NO WORRIES and  SLOBBERY LOVE, Rory and Stella

Bushfire.

Howdy Mates.

Just wanting to let you know we are fine here in case you have heard of our bushfires.  We had to evacuate our home yesterday morning.  We came back this morning, the weather had eased overnight but is expected to worsen later today.  We are on watch and alert and listening to our radio which gives updates every few minutes. The first photo was Friday arvo and the second yesterday morning.  We were surrounded by smoke, ash and burnt leaves.

Mum says we were very very good considering all the stress and racing around getting stuff organised so we could leave.  I, Stella stayed at my hu-brother's place in Adelaide and Rory and Jinx stayed with our aunty with mum and our other sissy.   Tyler stayed with our sissy at her friend's place.  Our dad stayed home with Penny to keep an eye on the house cause sometimes embers will start housefires  when they are floating around.  Don't worry though, mum gave them orders to GET OUT OF TOWN if the fire came closer.

We have heard 12 houses have been lost, 22 injuries to Firefighters and a terribly tragic event where a boarding kennel was lost.  All the cats perished and 40 dogs were saved but other dogs lost as well.  It was heartbreaking to hear.

We will update tomorrow or over the next few days if we aren't home.  See ya soon and keep our amazing Volunteer Firefighters in your thoughts.  We are in awe of them because they are so very brave.  We are also getting support from New South Wales who have sent 15 fire trucks to help us out.

No worries and love, Stella and Rory
