Off To The Vets

It's ok Stellie, I'll look after you.

Hi Everyone,  Stellie and Rory went off to the Vets this morning.  Desexing for both, microchipping and removing Stella's tumour.  It is a quiet household (apart from three little preschoolers to keep me company).    Hope the day goes fast.  No worries (especially for our two little rascals), and love, Carol

Practising a 'triple drop'.  Lasted about  1/2 a second after they ate their treats.  Stella's bum hardly touched the ground, even though she can do a drop much better than this attempt.

Rory is getting big now.
At the Vets this morning he weighed 35 kgs (77 lbs) at 18 weeks old and Stella was 11 kg (24 lbs) at 27 weeks old).

They were both fabulous.  Went in wagging, jumped on the scales no worries, and were put into a huge cage together, at least until they have their ops.  After that separate but next to each other.

I wonder if they will have the dreaded cone.  Will let you know.
See ya and have a great day.

Love Carol

  1. Aw, hope their time there is quick and they come home feeling ok. And definitely hope there's no cone involved!

  2. Hi Stella & Rory, when my brother Owen and I went in for the "fixing", it hardly phased us at all. Our vet used a laser so it hardly hurt at all and the healing was quick. I don't remember us having a cone on our heads either. I'm sure that everything will be just fine.

  3. Hi Carol - it's a nervous time for you - at least you have little ones to keep your mind off things for a while! When Rubie had her op she came home the same day without a cone on. The vet gave us one in case she started to lick or work on her wound. We chose to just keep a dedicated eye on her and say "NO" when she went to the area. We made her sleep with the cone on the first night - we were concerned she would work on the wound when we were sleeping.....

But from that morning she was good - and we never had to put the cone on again. PS: she HATED it and refused to move at all.

All the best to them - hey at least they are together - that's nice!!

  8. Paws crossed for uneventful surgeries and speedy, incident-free recoveries. Keeping them from playing for a few days may be a bit of a challenge :)

Yahoo, Rory at 77 lbs! Mama's average male Dane was about 180 lbs; her biggest was 220 lbs, without an ounce of fat on him. That's a goal, Rory :)
