Howdy All, just a couple of photos to show the different personalities of our two rascals. Sunday we had Dog Obedience in the morning and were home around lunchtime. In the arvo our two played all afternoon with Tyler. He went home, they had their dinner and then this is how the evening went.
Rory fell asleep and couldn't be woken.
He is a deep sleeper when he's tired.
Stella, on the otherhand, is full of beans 100% of the time.
She loves to nosey around to see what we are all doing.
She finally settles down to watch TV.
Rory still hasn't moved.
She gets a little sleepy.
Never gives in though.
Finally, finally, might close her eyes.
Wakes up within a millisecond if she hears an interesting noise.
Stella naps for short intervals during the day, Rory sleeps for hours at a time. Stella hears the front door open and runs toward it immediately, Rory, raises his head, slowly gets up, barks, then trots towards the door.
What sort of doggie are you? The sleepy, kinda lazy one, or the full on, 100% energy, three glasses of red cordial, kind of one?
On Sunday at Dog School, Rory was supposed to do a recall where I walk about 10 metres away and then call him to me. He sat looking at me, and sat, and sat. I think it was all too much effort to raise his big bottom off the ground hehe. Usually he is pretty good at coming but not this day. Stella on the otherhand, sits, Colin walks away and within a half second of him raising his hand to recall, she is halfway to him and slams to a halt in front of him. Pretty impressive, but in saying that, they were little bums at everything else that day at School but we all had a good laugh anyway.
Hope your weekend was good. Take care all.
No worries, and love, Carol
Great post. I used to have a black cocker spaniel when Max first came to live with us. Sounds like Stella is just like Benson was. He would fall asleep standing on his feet if he had to. Even on the last day he wouldn't give in even though he struggled to walk. Max is, as I write, snoring in the corner and I am waiting for him to wake up to go for a walk.
ReplyDeleteI'm more like you, Rory and Molly is Miss Nosy like Stella is! Great recall, Stella! I wish Molly could be more like you are in that respect!
ReplyDeleteLove ya lots,
Mitch and Molly
Have a great Monday and we are the sleepy lazy kind of doglet.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
Does Rory SNORE? He looks like he could get some ZZZZ's going! They are both totally adorable. Love the header pic too!
ReplyDeleteFloyd and I are pretty alike when it comes to sleeping habits. We have power naps, to fuel epic play times!
ReplyDeleteThe only difference is, he likes to sleep in warm places and I prefer cool spots.
I have to say that I am somewhere in between the two of you as far as sleep goes. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Goose
This is a grrrreat post. I love to learn how my furends do thingys. You two are certainly different. So are Ernie and I. No Worries, F & E
ReplyDeleteI is full of beans all the time too!!
ReplyDeleteMum had two co0ckers and Snoopy was your colour. Both were just the same always on the alert.. Me on the other hand can sleep on a sixpence.. Hugs GJ xx
ReplyDeleteOurs are the 100%, all the time variety. We wouldn't mind the sleepy kind!
ReplyDeleteSam
Mom says it depends upon the day....or what type of exercise we have gotten....usually we sleep but if the door opens for mom to come home, or the refrig door we jump awake....
ReplyDeletestella rose
I'm Rory! Nothing wakes me when I am sleeping.
ReplyDeleteYour pal, Pip
We're both Stellas - or so says Mom. We've got the be Ever Vigilant, ya know!

-Fiona and Abby the Hippobottomus
Jimmy is pretty much 100%, Wilson is a bit older (9) so he can give in to sleep a lot easier. But if there is food in the making, they can both stay awake 24/7!
ReplyDeleteStella would do quite well with Lightning as her pal. He is 100% energized at all times. He can lie down to rest but any interest from the rest of the pack and he is up and running.
ReplyDeleteThe differences in our personalities is what makes having a pack so much fun:)
Woos - Phantom, Thunder, Ciara, and Lightning
Mom calls me Rip Van Winkle. If I am in my sleepy mode I am like a zombie. Stanley is not like that.
ReplyDeleteYour friends,
Murphy & Stanley
Stella just does not want to miss anything. And is it true for dogs, like it is for babies, they grow in their sleep, maybe for Rory it is. He's getting so big. Our Jake is like Stella he don't miss a thing, and never turns his ears off while sleeping, the rest are pretty calm.
ReplyDeleteThe silvers and more
I think that being full of beans is a good thing

I'm 100% positive now that Georgia has Dane in her. My god! Can she sleep! Out like a light and we practically have to scream to get her to wake up even for her morning walk. She never used to be like this and sometimes I think it must be a medical condition. Does Rory snore like a trooper too?
ReplyDeleteGood thing Rory sleeps on his bed....because it would be next to impossible to move him when he was asleep!!!
ReplyDeleteWe are all light sleepers....always ready to jump into action at the slightest noise.
Hey, we THOUGHT we saw Stella on the weekend--but it was a boy.
XXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy
I guess I am like Rory!
ReplyDeleteBut sure I can run like a flash if I hear a little noise outside!
Take care
Kisses and hugs

It is amazing how many different personalities can live together peacefully! Oso, Quinn and Nuka sleep like Rory. Puff, YoYoMa and I are like Stella...but I can be a little of both, especially in the very early morning when I would rather cuddle asleep on the bed with momma than go out for a run with Dad!
ReplyDeleteThe recall in this household works only if there are biscuits involved. I think the dogs have trained me, lol! Toby is the ever-prevailing hooligan (he has his own mind) and Aunt Tam sleeps away...like Rory (until the hooligan disturbs her sweet reverie).
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your snooze, Rory.
Stella is a real sweetie...just adore her!

MAXMOM IN SOUTH AFRICA
(ps Say 'Hi' to Adelaide for me)
I wouldn't have guessed any other way than the big guy is completely laid back and the cute little girl is full of beans! I think that's always how it goes. They just want to keep good track of you humans!
ReplyDeleteWe believe in LOTS of sleep... but are more full of beans. But our mom? She is JUST like Rory.

Haha! I had to laugh at Stella tired on her bed but just not wanting to miss anything! Rory looks so funny on his bed just zonked out. Amazing how different their personalities can be. It sounds like was "fun" (heehee).

Hi Carol,,,
ReplyDeleteSize matters!!!
Thanks so much for your visit to our blog!!!
Hope what I am writing is good--can not see it!!
I'm a jump up at the littlest noise kind of dog!
ReplyDeleteNubbin wiggles,
Oskar
Hiya guys - thanks for your comment on my bird post.... mum laughed and even as she wrote the word "chicken" she thought someone might pick up on it!!
ReplyDeleteHad another horrid time at doggie skool where mum ended up losing her cool at the relentless criticism ...... I feel we are almost done and I'm gonna miss the doggie interaction after class.
I have a lot of beans and I tend to sleep my 12 hours per day from about 9pm to 9am and not much napping in-between. I have a lot of beans because I'm only 27months old. I do lie around a bit but my eyes are often open.
Have a good weekend my furiends.... Rubie xxx
Sounds like our house. I, Mango, am quite serious about my napping, particularly after a grueling obedience class. PeeWee, on the other hand, never seems to be quite asleep and will always bounce up at the slightest sound.

Mango
