Birdwood Motor Museum

Howdy Mates, the other day, when Dad was still on holidays, Mum and Dad went (without us!!) to the Birdwood Motor Museum.  Mum says it was heaps good cause, and this is where she is starting to show how bloomin old she is, there were lots of cars her and Dad remembered from when they were young.

A car from Harry Potter!

Back to the Future (the Delorean).

This next lot are children's peddle cars.

Mum remembers when she was little,
Monday was clothes washing day.

Dad taught mum to drive in a car similar to this one.
Push button automatic, no worries.

Then Dad bought one of these.
Mum says they were good times, hehehe.

 1936 caravan.

Dad was a postie but sadly, in his day,
it was all done on pushbike.

Keep on dreamin' Dad.

Who remembers going to the drive-in?

Well, that's all mates.   Did you see any familiar cars?  Have a great Wednesday.  No worries, and slobber, Rory and Stella

  1. Great display. We just got rid of our Hills Hoist when we made the garden.

So Dad had a shaggin' wagon, did he?

  3. What a fantastic museum. Some familiar things, some not so much. What is a Hills Hoist? We used to have outdoor clothes lines that lowered for hanging & removing clothes, then lifted up for drying. The real old time mechanism was a wooden pole & it took some muscle to push a loaded line up higher. Did not know Daimler's had push button commands; thought they just had those speaking horns for shouting orders. Most interesting! Thanks for the tour.

  4. Very cool cars. Mom says she is old enough to remember drive-in movies. One of her favorite memories from her childhood. She loved the cartoons, going to the playground near the refreshment stand, and falling asleep halfway through the first movie:)

  6. That's a lot of cool cars. My MOM loved going to drive inns. We still have one in town and once a summer she takes all her kids at church to a movie there. I even get to go. She brings a bar-b-qer and makes dogs and burgers. And they toss a football and Frisbee around before the movie. It's loads of fun.

  7. Those are some great cars your Momma and Dad got to see. We haven't been to a drive-in in a few years. We still have a couple around here and were just saying we need to go before the season ends. I just always hate the mosquitoes!

  8. That last picture looks like it would be good for Stella and Rory. My peeps don't really remember the cars that you went to visit but they look like they could be fun to drive.

  9. I was trying to remember the pictures so I could tell you my favourites but by the end, there were too many of them! I really love the ones from the 50s-70s though. My god, they made some good looking cars and trucks in those days.

And hey Stella and Rory, it's good for your dad to dream. Cushion dreamt of getting a bike for YEARS before I let my guard down one day and said yes :)

  10. That looks like a fun day! Even our mum, who normally doesn't care less about cars likes going to car museums and seeing all the vintage and famous ones.

  16. Those cars are older than I am - but very cool to look at! I remember the station wagon - still think it's the best car EVER - especially for those nights when we went to the drive in!
