He has only been home four hours. I can never thank you all enough for your concern, love and good wishes for our boy.
I have hope that possibly by next week he will be able to hold some weight on his right leg thus helping when he needs a wee etc.
Our boy is tired and a little miserable but we are loving him up big time. This will be a lengthy rehab and we cannot be sure of the outcome. We will do our best.
Stella was glad to see him but a little wary because he smelt different.
Christmas has come early to our home.
Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
No worries, and love,
Carol

Do you remember when Mango was getting water therapy? I wonder if your Doc might suggest that. I am thrilled he is home under Mum's loving care and that he heals.
ReplyDeleteCheers, hugs and POTP,
Jo, Stella and Zkhat (thats 12 paws!)
We've been slacking off and just catching up today. We're so sorry to hear about Rory's troubles but we know he'll feel btter now thst he's home. I can't imagine trying to move such a big boy. It was hard enough taking little Morgan out when she injured her legs. We have all 40 paws crossed here for his recovery plus some wings and fingers.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about all you have been going through! Wishing him a speedy recovery!
ReplyDeleteOh dear friends, we are sending our strongest White Dog healing energies to your precious boy! Please be strong and believe that Rory will fully recover given a bit of time and some physical therapy. Being home is the best medicine. When Quinn lost use of his back legs one of the things we did was to have him lie on his side and then to gently stretch his leg out and then push against his paw to bring the leg up to his chest over and over again to work and strengthen the muscles; then turn him over and do other leg. Also ask about K laser treatment...and consider deep hand massage (there are some good videos on you tube)...anything to keep the muscles from weakening. He is home, though, he is home!
ReplyDeleteCarol I have just heard about Rory - how horrible for all of you. It's so awful when our furry kids are unwell, I feel for you so much.Rubie and I want to send all our love and healing powers, and know Rory will continue to improve and return to normal. He must be very happy to be home. xxxoooxxx
ReplyDeleteHi Carol, Rory and Stella, we're sorry that we're a bit late. We're really glad that Rory is back home. He'll have a better chance at recovery as he won't be stressed. Now the work really begins. When I first came home, my peeps were a little overwhelmed but they learned and practiced day by day. They learned to handle #1 and #2. Learned how to express me (#1) onto couple of pee pads and #2's with a wiggly suppository and sheets of bathroom tissue. Then they learned how to stretch my leg muscles and ligaments so that they wouldn't shrink (atrophy). I also had weekly acupuncture for the first 3 months and once stitches came out, weekly swim sessions as I was most likely to regain mobility when I swam without gravity affecting me or because I was more likely to move my legs in water. We're not suggesting that you do all these things however you might consider some of these options. We'll help however we can. We like you guys.
